A congressional motion passed last December obliges the Spanish Government to draw up new national regulations covering online gambling, but in line with existing Spanish laws in a range of key areas. The Spanish Congress recently passed a motion obliging the Spanish Government to develop comprehensive, nationally-binding regulations covering remote gambling. But until the Government draws up those regulations according to principles outlined in the motion, current regional and national gaming laws will continue to apply to online gaming activities where the threat of prosecution exists.
