A class action lawsuit brought against a number of internet search engines, including Google and Yahoo!, which are alleged to have profited from promoting of online gambling websites will be heard in California in early February. A deal signed between the internet firms and the US Attorney’s Office in December does not protect the companies from civil litigation brought under state laws but experts doubt whether further civil cases will be brought to trial elsewhere in the United States.
