Italy Bows To European Relicensing Pressure

The Italian government has confirmed that they will run a new tender process “by the end of the year” to settle the vexed question of the 329 horseracing betting shop licenses that were controversially extended eight years ago. The announcement draws a line under the negotiations between the Economy Ministry and the EU that took place at the end of January but leaves the existing license holders fuming.
