The British bingo industry’s lobbying efforts to exempt bingo participation charges from VAT failed to bear fruit as Chancellor Alistair Darling unveiled his 2008 Budget yesterday. With bingo still subject to both VAT and tax on gross revenue, closure of further bingo halls is inevitable, maintains the Bingo Association.
