Under pressure, Puerto Rico Governor Aníbal Acevedo Vilá has advocated privatizing the island’s lottery in order to balance his Government’s budget for the forthcoming fiscal year. But while the lottery’s director says it would be certain to attract prospective buyers, opposition politicians have indicated their intention to block plans for a lottery sell-off in the Commonwealth’s Legislative Assembly.
