Ukraine Debates New Gambling Regulations

The failure of Federal licensing requirements to adequately limit abuses by some operators in Ukraine’s fast growing gambling market have led the country’s MP’s to submit four bills proposing a range of restrictive options from gaming zones to total prohibition. The Ukrainian Government though, with an eye on EU membership, has opted to begin a wider review of its options on the regulation of gambling, and this week kicked off the process with a high-level hearing that covered money laundering, player protection and the licensing of online gambling.
