Tougher Regulations Emerge From Costa Rica’s Casino Storm

At a press conference held in San José late last week, three senior government ministers revealed extensive new regulations for land-based casinos in Costa Rica. The government promised a tightening of regulations after Russian-based operator Storm International announced its entry into the Costa Rican market in February, but the new, restrictive, legislation only underlines the discrepancy between Costa Rica’s approach to terrestrial and remote gambling operations.
