ESI, owners of payment processing company Citadel, has agreed to hand over to the US authorities more than $9m in profits made through processing online gambling transactions involving American customers between 2002 and 2007. The deal immunizes the company from federal prosecution but could leave it open to civil litigation, says one observer.
