Illinois’s Supreme Court has ruled that the state’s highest grossing riverboat casinos cannot recoup a three percent surcharge paid to Illinois’s beleaguered horseracing industry since 2006. The Court said that the casinos were partially responsible for falls in race track revenues, with owners of the latter likely to keep pushing for slot machine gaming to prevent further declines.
