Moderate Line Prevails In Malaysian Gambling Debate

Malaysia's conservative Islamic party, the PAS, has withdrawn a proposal to ban gambling in the four states it rules in coalition with its political allies. The pragmatic move comes after electoral successes in March, which saw the party gain votes even from the ethnic Chinese community in the country.
