A Senate committee has called for politicians to wait for the publication of an upcoming gambling policy review before enacting any legislation to restrict poker machine operations in Australia, shelving three bills that would have raised taxes on machine revenues, introduced maximum payout rates and banned ATMs in gaming machine venues.
