A bad run of luck in September and the continued ill effects from Chinese visa restrictions saw Melco Crown substantially miss profit forecasts in the third quarter. But the company reassured analysts that it had more than enough capital to complete both phases of the City of Dreams – more than can be said for Las Vegas Sands’ expansion plans in Macau where the company is reported to have laid off 11,000 workers.
