James Kilsby - Americas Editor
James Kilsby is currently Americas Editor for GamblingCompliance.com in Washington, D.C. where he manages GamblingCompliance’s coverage of issues related to US gambling policy at federal, state and tribal levels. James has worked as a journalist and research analyst for GamblingCompliance since receiving an MA in Latin American History and Politics from the University of London in 2006. He was a lead author of GamblingCompliance’s landmark January 2010 report, 'Market Barriers: US Internet Gaming', and has spoken at industry conferences in the US, Latin America and Europe, including at the European Parliament in Brussels. James has written extensively about the convergence of online and traditional gambling across the European Union, as well as about key policy trends regarding internet gaming in the United States and Canada.  A fluent Spanish and Portuguese speaker, James also takes a keen interest in emerging Latin American gambling markets including Mexico and Brazil.
 
   
Laurie Korpi - Legal and Research Director, International
Laurie is the legal and research director, international at Gambling Compliance Ltd. A lawyer by training, Laurie has been researching and writing on regulatory and market developments for Gambling Compliance for over 4 years. Laurie has had a specific focus on developments across European markets during this time and has spoken at conferences, a parliamentary hearing as well as various in-house seminars and workshops on gambling regulation. Laurie has co-authored GamblingCompliance's "The European Court of Justice Update: The Dutch Betting Cases - White Paper" (2010); "Market Barriers: A European Online Gambling Study 2009"; "The Russian Federation - A Gaming Market About To Fold?" (2008) reports among other research reports.
   
Harry Ashton - Legal and Research Director, Special Projects
Harry is a former private-practice litigation lawyer admitted in both the UK and Australia. He joined GamblingCompliance shortly after its inception in 2007 where he led the London-based legal and research team. Harry co-authored both ‘Market Barriers’ reports and a number of European law focused special reports. He has also led a diverse range of bespoke reports such as due diligence, submissions for government inquiries and cross-jurisdictional analysis. His recent move to Australia has further expanded the company’s global presence. Here he focuses on special projects and servicing the Asia-Pacific region, while contributing to global content and liaising with London on management issues.
   
Patrice Rodrigue - Senior Legal Analyst
Patrice is a Senior Legal Analyst at GamblingCompliance's London headquarters. He has been closely involved in analyzing regulatory trends in gaming in North America and Europe. Recent projects include a report on tribal gaming in Canada and the white paper;The Future of Internet Gaming: Canada (2010). Patrice also co-authored Market Barriers: European Internet Gaming (2009) and The Russian Federation - A Gaming Market About To Fold? (2008). Qualified as a lawyer in Canada and the UK, Patrice’s legal experience before joining GamblingCompliance in 2008 included advising a Canadian entertainment company in a joint venture with a Las Vegas partner and acting for one of Canada's largest media conglomerates. Patrice holds law degrees from Oxford University (MSc), the University of London (LLM), as well as a first degree (LLB) in civil law from Université Laval, Québec.
   
   
Andrew Gellatly Editorial Director
Andrew Gellatly was part of the founding management team of Gambling Compliance in 2006. Before that he had an extensive background in covering technology, gambling and sport.  He wrote the Financial Times special report on the global gaming industry and has been a regular FT contributor on sport, gaming and technology for FT Digital Business. He has chaired and spoken at gambling conferences worldwide including GlobalGamingExpo (G2E), the Global I-Gaming Summit (GiGSE), The Gaming Executive Summit (GES) and the International Casino Exhibition (ICE).
   
Pauline de Zeeuw Senior Legal Analyst
Pauline joined GamblingCompliance as a legal analyst in December 2009. She specializes in European jurisdictions but is also conducting research for Asian and African jurisdictions. She has co-authored GamblingCompliance's "The European Court of Justice Update: The Dutch Betting Cases - White Paper" (2010). Pauline graduated from Paris II Pantheon Assas in European Law, holds a Master in European litigation from the University of Luxembourg and attended the LL.M in Intellectual Property of University College London. Prior to joining GamblingCompliance, Pauline worked as a legal researcher at the College of Europe in Bruges and completed an internship with Judge Cunha Rodrigues at the European Court of Justice.
   
Jennifer Webb – Senior Legal Analyst
Jennifer earned her B.A., cum laude, in political science and political economy, from Tulane University in New Orleans, L.A., having also studied politics and law at the London School of Economics. Jennifer earned her J.D., cum laude from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in Washington D.C. While in law school, Jennifer won two awards for her service as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Law, Philosophy and Culture. Jennifer is admitted to practice in the state of Maryland and is a member of the American Bar Association, Maryland State Bar Association and Federal Bar Association. Since working at GamblingCompliance, Jennifer has written extensively on U.S. online gaming developments, tribal gaming issues, lotteries and state regulation of land-based casino gambling, as well as presented to state legislators on lottery regulation and expansion.
   
Alexander Ripps Legal Analyst & Social Media Editor
Alexander Ripps is a graduate of the Catholic University Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C. While in law school, Alexander served as President of the Sports & Entertainment Law Society, and is a certificate recipient from the Communications Law Institute.  Alexander holds a B.A. in Political Science and a B.S. in Telecommunications Production from the University of Florida. Since working at GamblingCompliance, Alexander has written extensively on U.S. online gaming developments, tribal gaming issues, lotteries and state regulation of land-based casino gambling, as well as presented to state legislators on conflicts between state and federal law. In addition to his role as legal analyst Alexander oversees GamblingCompliance's social media presence and outreach.
   
   
Luis Gil – Legal Analyst
Luis qualified and was admitted as a lawyer in Colombia. After qualifying Luis worked for the Council of State, the highest administrative court in Colombia. Luis moved to London in 2006 to complete an LLM in International and European Commercial Law at Brunel University. In March 2010 Luis joined GamblingCompliance, where he has applied his experience of Latin America and leads the regulatory team’s research and analysis of South American jurisdictions. Luis is also tasked with covering Spain and Portugal among other European jurisdictions for GamblingCompliance. Luis speaks and reads Spanish and English fluently and Portuguese and Italian to an intermediate level.
   

Tony Batt – Senior Journalist
A veteran Washington, D.C. reporter with 20 years' experience covering Congress, the White House and federal agencies, Tony began writing for GamblingCompliance in 2009. He has covered federal issues which have had an impact on the casino industry since 1992 when he was a reporter in the Washington, D.C. bureau of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. A graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism, he also earned a law degree from Texas Tech University.

   

William Chambers – Journalist
Since joining GamblingCompliance in 2010 William has been providing commentary on corporates operating in the gaming industry in Europe. He also closely follows the development of both regulation and technology as it affects the various forms of digital gambling across the world, and in particular in developing markets such as Eastern Europe and Africa. William graduated with a BA (Hons) in Journalism from Kingston University London, where he gained experience writing for local press and trade publications.

   

Daniel Macadam – Journalist
Daniel joined GamblingCompliance's London office as a journalist in 2010. In that time he has focused on the regulatory developments in the gambling industry, with a  close eye on the ever-shifting European regulatory landscape. A graduate of English Literature at Oxford University, Daniel has maintained his links with the university and writes on UK politics for Oxford University Press. He also has a first class Journalism Masters from Kingston University and has experience at trade publications, Press Gazette and The Drinks Business.

   

Martin Williams – Asia Editor
After completing a doctorate at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) on Taiwanese ethnic politics and history, Martin served four-and-a-half years as chief copy editor and editorialist at the Taipei Times newspaper. Before joining GamblingCompliance, Martin was Taiwan correspondent for the English-language service of Kyodo News, Japan's premier news agency. Fluent in Chinese, Martin serves on the board of the Taiwan Foreign Correspondents Club.

   

 

Chris Krafcik – Research Director, North America
Chris is research director, North America, at GamblingCompliance Ltd. He joined the company in 2009 as editor-at-large. Prior to that, he was editorial director at Bolaverde Media Group, a leading, U.S.-based Internet gambling consultancy, and before that, editor-in-chief of Interactive Gaming News, an internet gambling trade publication. Chris has more than six years' experience researching the U.S. gambling market, focusing on the interplay between politics, economics and regulation in the country's ongoing debate over internet gambling legalization.
